Overburden — Privacy policy

Overburden collects no data.

Last updated — 26 August 2026

Not anonymised data, not aggregated data, not analytics. None.

Sec. 01 — What the app does not do

Nothing to transmit with.

The app contains no networking code of any kind. There is no server, no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDKs. Nothing you do in Overburden is transmitted anywhere, because the app has no means of transmitting anything.

This is verifiable rather than a promise: the source contains no URLSession, no network framework import, and no analytics dependency.

Sec. 02 — What is stored, and where

Three things, on your device.

A small amount of information is saved on your device only, using the standard iOS preferences store.

  • Your best scores01
  • Your chosen difficulty and mode02
  • Whether you have sound and haptics switched on03

This never leaves the device. It is not backed up to us, because there is no “us” to back it up to. Deleting the app deletes it.

Sec. 03 — The daily puzzle

Derived from the date, on your phone.

Overburden's Daily mode gives every player the same sequence of pieces. It does this by deriving them arithmetically from the calendar date, entirely on your device. No request is made to fetch a puzzle and no record is made of you having played one.

Sec. 04 — App Clip

A link that carries only a date.

The App Clip plays a specific day's puzzle from a shared link. The link contains only a date. It carries no identifier for the person who shared it or the person who opened it, and opening one tells us nothing.

Sec. 05 — Children

Suitable for all ages.

The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included.

Sec. 06 — Changes

This page changes first.

If a future version ever collects anything, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the App Store privacy labels will change to match.

Sec. 07 — Contact
